‘The Banished’ Spoilers And Ending Explained: Making Sense Out of This Australian Folk Horror!

Although Eric Holmes and I had vastly different opinions on The Banished, this Australian folk horror led to a lengthy discussion about its eye opening third act. The movie is currently in theaters stateside and is also available On Demand. Check out our spoilers discussion below!

The narrative centers on Grace Jennings (Meg Eloise-Clarke), a young woman who is on a seemingly futile search for her missing brother. With her father recently deceased, Grace is understandably shaken and she hires her former high school teacher Mr. Green (Leighton Cardno) to help her search.

Out in the middle of the woods, Grace believes her brother might be part of a cult. Or maybe there is some supernatural element that is pulling her deeper into the unknown?

Directed and written by Joseph Sims-Dennett, The Banished might be too surreal and abstract for some viewers. I loved the film, and even though Eric was not as enthused, we did have a lively Spoilers discussion of The Banished:
