Hyperbole is a thing in reality competitions, but what if all that praise is well founded? The Voice: Battle of Champions’ Adam Levine praised the Battle Round performance between Mikenley Brown and Liv Ciara, claiming it was the best Battle he had ever witnessed. Plus, Kelly Clarkson used her Super Steal! All that for a stunning rendition of H.E.R.’s song “Focus.” Check out Brown and Ciara’s performance below!

“In my opinion, in the million seasons I’ve been on the show, that’s the best Battle Round I’ve ever heard,” said Adam Levine. “I’m not kidding.”

John Legend complimented Liv Ciara’s “range,” and if he was the coach, he would have picked her over Mikenley Brown. Legend, however, praised Brown’s “sultry” tone. Ultimately Kelly Clarkson chose Brown as the winner, leaving Levine and Legend to press their buzzers in an attempt to save Ciara.

That was all a bait and switch for Clarkson, as she let the boys fight over Ciara for a quick minute before throwing down the Super Steal.

As Legend pointed out, the harmonies created by Ciara and Brown were “silky smooth.” Watching these two distinct and different singers blend together to craft an insanley butterfly rendition of “Focus” was a thing to see. I’ve already watched this performance too many times to count, so maybe Levine wasn’t exaggerating!

Ciara auditioned for The Voice last season and didn’t get a chair turn, and Brown previously made it through to Hollywood on American Idol. It’s great to see both young singers persevere and shine during the performance.
