Movie Love: Maia Mitchell Discusses “Raw” Beauty Of ‘Once’

Directed with visual and storytelling brio from Elijah Bynum, Hot Summer Nights is a 1991 Cape Cod set drama that co-stars Maia Mitchell. During my chat with Mitchell, the actress talked about her love for the 2007 feature Once

Along with her role in Hot Summer Nights, Mitchell will also be seen in the indie drama Never Goin’ Back and she’s currently in production of her upcoming series Good Trouble (the program continues the adventures of Callie Adams Foster, Mitchell’s character in The Fosters).

Check out my video below as Mitchell talks about the beauty of Once (the picture stars musicians Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová):

For the audio version:

Mitchell also expressed her love for Once on Instagram as she covered “If You Want Me,” a popular track featured on the soundtrack:

What are your personal opinions of Once? Is it your favorite film from director John Carney (he also helmed Begin Again and Sing Street). My personal fav is Sing Street (thanks to Jack Reynor’s winning performance as Conor’s ne’er do well brother Brendan) Feel free to comment below!!

Hot Summer Nights, co-starring Timothée Chalamet and Alex Roe, opens in select theaters on July 27.
