Actor Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner, Teen Wolf) may be on the cusp of his second cinematic franchise with American Assassin, a film where he plays a CIA black ops recruit named Mitch Rapp. The project is based on Vince Flynn’s bestselling novel, and currently Flynn has penned 15 books centering on Rapp’s adventures.
The story centers on Rapp’s investigation of seeming random attacks on military and civilian targets. Michael Keaton is Stan Hurley, the Cold War vet who helps Rapp on his mission, and the pair join up with a Turkish agent (Shiva Negar) to take down a dangerous operative (Taylor Ktisch) with designs of starting a war in the Middle East.
Michael Cuesta, a director and executive producer who’s worked on Homeland and Elementary (he also directed the 2014 release Kill the Messenger), is directing American Assassin. The production is currently underway in Europe.
Will Dylan O’Brien, who’ll next be seen opposite Mark Wahlberg in Deepwater Horizon, pass the test as a tough nosed CIA operative? Feel free to comment below and tell us what you think!!
