A creative reunion between Greg Daniels (The Office) and Steve Carell should have been in the offing (sorry for the horrible pun) years ago, but that dream sees the light of day when Space Force hits Netflix on May 29. Like The Office, it is a “workplace comedy” but this time out Space Force will literally reach new heights.
Four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) has dreams of running the Air Force, but instead he is tasked with heading up Space Force, the sixth branch of the US Armed Forces. Initially skeptical of the organization, Naird moves his family to a remote base in Colorado where he, scientists, and “spacemen” are assigned to help get America back to the moon.
The series, co-created by Carell and Greg Daniels, co-stars John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Ben Schwartz, Lisa Kudrow, Tawny Newsome and Ben Schwartz. Jimmy O. Yang, who also stars in the series, will also serve as the host of Inside Joke: Space Force Podcast. The 10-part podcast, which will release episodes on Mondays and Thursdays, explores the stories behind the show via interviews with the cast and crew of the show.
Are you excited for Space Force? With Daniels and Carell at the helm, along with a talented comedic ensemble, my bet is Space Force hits it out of the park. The trailer makes excellent use of Elton John’s hit tune “I’m Still Standing” and it looks like Malkovich will be a total scene stealer on the show. I’d love to hear your thoughts and feel free to comment below!!
