Directed by Alex Holmes, The Last Rider is a documentary about legendary American cyclist Greg LeMond. A three time Tour de France winner, LeMond came back from a traumatic incident to go toe to toe with fellow cyclist Laurent Fignon at the 1989 Tour de France. The documentary also features interviews with LeMond’s wife Kathy and Spanish bicycler Pedro Delgado. Full interview with Lemond and Holmes is featured below.
Jordan Gertner makes his feature directing debut with Sheroes. That said, he is an experienced producer (The Killer Inside Me,Buffalo 66,Spring Breakers) so going behind the camera must have been second nature to him.
Filmmaker Mark Pellington has helmed several movies (Arlington Road,The Mothman Prophecies, Going All The Way) which have made an impact on my moviegoing life. Pellington’s latest feature is Survive, an adventure drama headlined by Sophie Turner and Corey Hawkins. It’s another impressive effort from the director, who spent close to 40 minutes talking about Survive and his filmmaking career.
Filmmaker Anthony Mandler(Monster) delivers a first rate Western with Surrounded. The story centers on Moses “Mo” Washington (Letitia Wright), a former Buffalo Soldier who is headed West to lay claim on a gold mine. Washington, a Black woman living in post-Civil War America, has her share of danger along the trip thanks to a battle of wills with an outlaw (Jamie Bell). Check out our Mandler interview below!
Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire, narrated by David Oyelowo (Selma) and directed by Trip Jennings, is a critically acclaimed documentary which enables viewers to gain a deeper understanding of wiildfire. CinemAddictsco-host Eric Holmes gave the documentary ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, and I will definitely be seeing this documentary this weekend. The project is currently out on TVOD/Digital and TVD’s in North America, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Check out the Trip Jennings interview in our post!
Midday Black Midnight Blueis a highly unique viewing experience. Directed by Samantha Soule and Daniel Talbott, the feature centers on Ian (Chris Stack), a person who continues to struggle with memories of his former companion Liv (Soule). Soule and Stack elaborated on why this narrative is not your run of the mill drama. The non-linear structure and insightful storytelling resonated for me, and I hope more cinephiles give Midday Black Midnight Blue a shot.
Many thanks to Searchlight Pictures for sending us three Digital Codes of Chevalier. The critically acclaimed feature hits digital retailers on June 16. Very easy to enter this giveaway. Read my post for details.
Mending the Line, directed by Joshua Caldwell and penned by Stephen Camelio, is a first rate drama that took me by surprise. I asked co-star Wes Studi about his reaction to the movie, and he was “impressed” by the narrative. The ensemble includes Brian Cox (Succession) , Sinqua Walls (White Men Can’t Jump), Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond), and Irene Bedard (How to Blow Up A Pipeline). Studi talked about Mending The Line, the beauty of Montana and Santa Fe, and reflects on a couple of his underrated movies (Mystery Men, The Only Good Indian).
