Molly Gordon (The Bear) and Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being A Wallflower) are talented actors, and their chemistry is palpable in Oh, Hi!. This dark comedy romance, however, fails to deliver an arresting narrative, and good vibes can only get you so far.

Iris (Molly Gordon) and Isaac (Logan Lerman) travel to upstate New York for a relaxing vacation. When the couple stop at a strawberry stand by the road, something absolutely awkward happens. Plus they both read a town’s sign two different ways, and it’s another sign that they may not be on the same page.

Directed and co-written by Sophie Brooks, Oh, Hi! ramps up the stakes when Iris keeps Isaac handcuffed to the bed due to his commitment issues. She promises to uncuff him after 12 hours, just as long as he gives her a chance to win him over.
It’s an intriguing enough premise, and Geraldine Viswanathan and Josh Reynolds also do fine work as Iris’ understandably surprised friends. Running at 94 minutes, Oh, Hi! is a bit too chill for its own good. By leaning into the comedy, there is no absolute tension to keep this story interesting.
All of the actors are charismatic enough to keep things moving at a brisk enough 94 minutes. The lack of tension and unsuccessful stabs at comedy just left me wanting more. In theaters July 25, Oh, Hi! was a huge miss for me, and I’m giving it ⭐️⭐️/5 stars.
