Exclusive: Brooke Adee Talks “The Voice” & Songwriting Passions

Brooke Adee’s captivating voice was displayed, to stunning effect, during the Blind Auditions for The Voice with a performance of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love.” Now past the Battle Rounds, Adee looks to continue her run with a successful Knockouts performance under the coaching of Blake Shelton.

Though her indelible voice and telegenic presence is one of the reasons why Adee is one of this season’s top picks to win it all, the artist says that her first love is songwriting. This insightful approach to her craft should have been evident from her choice of “Skinny Love,” as it really doesn’t get more introspective (and subtly evocative) than Bon Iver’s music.

Brooke Adee explains why performing in front of a big audience is less intimidating than singing in front of an intimate setting, and she also discusses why writing is a vital element of her creativity.
