Stilllwater centers on Bill Baker (Matt Damon), an American oil-righ roughneck who visits Marseilles to visit his estranged daughter Allison (Abigail Breslin). Allison has been imprisoned for a murder she claims she did not not commit, and Bill is determined to prove her innocence.
Bill’s attempts to acclimate to French living leads to an unexpected bond with a woman named Virginie (Camille Cottin) and her daughter Maya (Lilou Siauvaud). In the featurette clip below, Damon talks about Siavaud’s natural acting talent:
