‘Queen’ Hits Receive “Raw Sessions” Treatment With Digital Download Releases

Queen’s 1977 album News of the World is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month, and now previously unheard “Raw Sessions” versions of “We Are The Champions” and “We Will Rock You” have been released as digital downloads.

Queen - We Will Rock youBoth tracks are part of the News of the World box set edition of News of the World which will include the original album on CD and two other CDs of out-takes and rarities culled from Queen’s archives.

A different approach to the song’s guitar solo, as well as the group’s studio banter before the master take is featured in the “Raw Sessions” version of “We Will Rock You.” Freddie Mercury ends the “We Are The Champions” version by commenting “that was a lovely feel . . . that’s exactly how it should be.”

The 40th Anniversary Edition of News of the World is set for a November 17th release via Hollywood Records. Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek will play Freddie Mercury in the Bryan Singer directed Bohemian Rhapsody which hits theaters December 25, 2018.
