Directed and co-written by Neil Burger (“Divergent,” “Limitless”), “Inheritance” centers on Maya (Phoebe Dynevor), a woman who is understandably reeling after her mother’s death. Her estranged dad Sam (Rhys Ifans) reenters her life with a lucrative business proposal. When he is kidnapped, Maya must retrieve a priceless item or else her father is killed. CinemAddicts co-host Eric Holmes and I both recommend “Inheritance” – check out our review below!
“Inheritance,” an iPhone shot suspense thriller, runs at a brisk 101 minutes and is powered by Phoebe Dynevor’s (“Bridgerton,” “Fair Play”) locked in performance. Rhys Ifans (“Notting Hill”) is also memorable as the every so shifty and charismatic father.
CinemAddicts co-hosts Bruce Purkey and Eric Holmes describe the movie as a “travelogue,” and on a sightseeing level the movie delivers.
A standout sequence involving Maya (Dynevor) escaping the antagonists as a motorcycle passenger is absolutely breathtaking to watch. Even if you end up being mixed on “Inheritance,” this action scene is worth a look.
Though the feature does have its Hitchcockian elements, “Inheritance” is ultimately about a woman who, in the midst of tragedy, attempts to carve her own path.
All of us on CinemAddicts recommend “Inheritance.” Our Rating: 1. Bruce Purkey (⭐️⭐️⭐️), Eric Holmes (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½), and myself (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️).
