Hollywood Stargirl, the sequel to the 2020 feature Stargirl, hits Disney+ on June 3. This time out, Stargirl Caraway (Grace VanderWaal) heads out to Los Angeles afer her mom Ana (Judy Greer) lands a costume designer job on a movie.

During her time in the City of Angels, Stargirl meets Evan (Elijah Richardson) and Terrell (Tyrel Jackson Williams), two filmmaking brothers with big dreams of their own. The always reliable Judd Hirsch (Taxi, Running on Empty) is one of Stargirl’s neighbors, and Uma Thurman plays a musician who Stargirl has always admired.

Being a fan of Fast Color and Miss Stevens, I have always appreciated the work of director Julia Hart. I appreciated Stargirl‘s employment of Big Star’s seminal tune “Thirteen” and the Beach Boys‘ “Be True To Your School,” and I am assuming music will play a big part in Hollywood Stargirl. Grace VanderWaal was immensely watchable in the original film, and it will be interesting to see how much she has grown as an actress with Hollywood Stargirl. She performs her original song “Figure It Out” in the sequel.
