Corey Haim And Michael Ironside Horror ‘Watchers’ Hits Blu-ray In October Via Toy Robot Video

Toy Robot Video will release Watchers, a 1988 suspense horror starring Corey Haim and Michael Ironside on October 20. Based on the Dean R. Koontz novel of the same name, the film comes with new Special Features. Check out our post for details!

In Watchers, Corey Haim plays Travis Cornell, a teen who befriends a highly intelligent golden retriever. This dog, however, was part of a biological research experienment who escaped after an explosion obliterated a science laboratory. A beast known as OXCOM (Outside Experimental Combat Mammal) also survived the blast, and agents Lem Johnson (Michael Ironside) and Cliff Soams (Blu Mankuma) are tasked with killing both survivors.

Travis, who adopted the dog, puts himself in harm’s way. If you’ve got Michael Ironside on your trail, trouble is right around the corner!

The ensemble includes Don S. Davis (Twin Peaks), Lala Sloatman (Dream A Little Dream), Barbara Williams (Inventing the Abbotts), and Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills, 90210). Williams also worked with Corey Haim in the 1992 feature Oh, What A Night and she co-write the Pauly Shore comedy Jury Duty. Don Hess directed the 91-minute feature and the script was penned by Bill Freed and Damian Lee.

The Watchers’ bonus features include new (and separate) interviews with Jon Hess, Michael Ironside, Lala Sloatman, and Barbara Williams. Watchers’ original theatrical trailer and a still gallery are also part of the extras.

As a Generation X member, one of my goals is to watch as many 1980s movies that I missed from my youth.
