So I think once I heard the song start, I was like, ‘Okay, I just let go of my nerves.’ And then once Adam turned within like, five seconds, then I really let go of my nerves because I (thought), ‘I know I’m moving on, so I can just calm down.”
Adam Levine told her after her Blind audition that she would probably win The Voice, adding that she was the one. “So Adam’s the best,” said Stephens. “Hearing him say that was crazy, and that attributed hugely to why I picked him in the end. I think it has its pros and cones because pro is that it gave me huge confidence in the competition. And the cons is that it’s a lot of pressure and I don’t want to let him down. I grew up watching The Voice, and Adam was one of the original coaches. So hearing that from him was like telling my childhood self, like, ‘You did it.'”

As for her overall journey on the show, Stephens was really grateful for the “people and the connections” she made on The Voice. “It really just opened my mind to be like, let’s say I got, I got no chair turns,” said Stephens. “It still would’ve been worth it because the music industry is all connections. So I’ve met so many amazing artists doing this (and) I’ve met people who now I want to write songs with that are also contestants. Now that they’re also music producers, they could produce my song and stuff like that. So I think just not putting too much pressure on the blind audition, and putting more pressure on meeting people and making those connections.”
We close the interview with Stephens discussing her future plans. “Maybe I’ll win The Voice and that’ll help,” said Stephens. “But I definitely want to be, in the next five years, release a ton of music. I would love to have my debut on Broadway, and I think that The Voice can definitely help with that because exposure is the name of the game. I just want to be leading a successful music career, whatever that means for me.”
