Directed and penned by Charles Dorfman, Barbarians centers on a well to do couple named Adam and Eva (Iwan Rheon, Catalina Sandino Moreno). It’s Adam’s birthday, and they are celebrating their new dream house with property developer Lucas (Tom Cullen) and his actress girlfriend Chloe (Inès Spiridonov). Their dinner is spoiled with a home invasion, leading to a nightmarish and bloody encounter. Moreno and Dorfman talk to Deepest Dream about why there is more than meets the eye with their home invasion thriller.

“This is the sort of movie that I felt attracted to because it’s just four people, sitting on a table, talking about life,” said Moreno, who previous credits include Maria Full of Grace and Medeas. “It was a very interesting experience to work in and to work with these fantastic actors and to work with Charlie. It was just a good combination of stuff.”

During the interview, Charles Dorfman elaborated on the multi-layered meaning behind his story’s moniker: “The idea is it’s a civilized dinner party, but who is civilized and who is not? What is the definition of being a civilized human being? That is sort of where the title comes from.”
