Micheál Richardson, son of actor Liam Neeson and late actress Natasha Richardson, sat down with Deepest Dream for several minutes to talk about working on Made In Italy with his father and how he continues to share a bond with his mother. Brief Q&A and video is below, as well as more information on the first rate feature!
Cle Sloan as Bone and Bobby Soto as David in the action / thriller
THE TAX
COLLECTOR,
a RLJE Films release. Photo courtesy of RLJE Films.
As a huge fan of David Ayer’s films (Street Kings, Harsh Times, Fury), I am happy to report that The Tax Collector did not disappoint. The biggest takeaway from that film is Bobby Soto, an actor whose career should be elevated thanks to his fine performance as the film’s lead. This post features my Q&A with Soto as well as the Find Your Film podcast episode which contains the full audio interview with the talented thespian.
BTS w/ Gemma Arterton, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Jessica Swale. Courtesy of IFC Films. Summerland Stills by Michael Wharley
Olivier Award winning playwright Jessica Swale makes her feature writing and directing debut with Summerland, a resonant and intricately crafted drama about a reclusive writer (Gemma Arterton) who unexpectedly forms a bond with a London evacuee named Frank (Lucas Bond). During the interview, Swale discussed the joys of working with Arterton and how she approaches creating stories and characters (it is a rather insightful approach).
I absolutely loved the latest Scott Adkins film Legacy of Lies, and with the latest giveaway I’m offering 5 (Five) DVDs of the first rate action thriller. Details below!
Building up your digital movie library is fine and dandy, but sharing that experience with your friends and loved ones should also be a priority (this coming from a mainly solitary movie watcher!). Movies Anywhere has just premiered a new feature called Watch Together where up to 9 people can enjoy a synced co-viewing of your favorite films!
Scott Adkins stars in Legacy of Lies as Martin Baxter, an ex-MI6 agent who is haunted by a past operation. Moving from city to city in hopes to protect himself and his daughter Lisa (Honor Kneafsey), Martin is once again pulled back into the world of espionage. During my conversation with Adkins and writer/director Adrian Bol, the pair talked about their collaboration and briefly discussed some of their own favorite pictures.
Actress Kristen Anne Ferraro is the lead in the new film A Deadly Legend, but she also did served as the producer of the indie project as well as serving as a sounding board (and support) to husband Eric Wolf who penned the script. The feature is obviously a family affair, and in the interview Ferraro elaborated on the ambition and scope that she and her husband brought to A Deadly Legend.
Amulet, now in theaters and available on Premium Video on Demand, is the feature debut, written and directed, by established actor, Romola Garai. Unlike many actors-turned-director, who might opt for an indie drama or romantic comedy, Garai dives head-first into a non-linear, surreal horror movie. She certainly did not choose the safe route.
Impetigore, now streaming on Shudder, is the second release by Indonesian filmmaker Joko Anwar to garner attention by the Western world. Even though he has made quite a few films, not all horror, Anwar’s previous feature, Satan’s Slaves, made a splash worldwide, as horror fans discovered a blend of traditional horror mixed with elements unique to Indonesian culture.
Antoine Olivier Pilon and Jim Gaffigan in "Most Wanted" (Saban Films)
Directed and penned by Daniel Roby, Most Wanted focuses on Daniel (Antoine-Olivier Pilon), a heroin addict who is forced by his shady employer (Jim Gaffigan) to participate in a drug deal that ultimately leads to his imprisonment in a Thailand. Josh Hartnett is Victor, the investigative journalist who uncovers the corruption behind Daniel’s imprisonment. During my interview with Pilon and Gaffigan, the actors talked about their love for the Québécois crew of Most Wanted. Plus, they gave me a couple of soolid movie picks (which is also welcome!).
