Jake Gyllenhaal reteams with Southpaw filmmaker Antoine Fuqua in The Guilty. With a screenplay from Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective) and voice acting from Ethan Hawke and Riley Keough, this Netflix feature should hit on all cylinders. I discuss The Guilty, a remake of the critically acclaimed feature of the same name, on the Find Your Film podcast.
I’m back to doing giveaways, and for this week I’m offering up my sealed Blu-ray of critically acclaimed musical In The Heights. Digital Code is included in the package. Details below!
On a given week I’ll see about six or seven movies. Even if some of them are above average cinema, they may leave my memory bank sooner than later. That is not the case with the beautifully crafted and resonant Last Night In Rozzie. The feature is now out in theaters and VOD, and my interview with director Sean Gannet and writer Ryan McDonough is below!
Everbody’s Talking about Jamie, an Amazon Original Movie based on the popular stage musical, features the screen debuts of Max Harwood and Lauren Patel. During our interview, the pair talked about how they easily “got on” while making the feature. Filmmaker Jonathan Butterell also discussed how watching them shine during production was the best part of the experience.
The anthology horror feature Bad Candytook me by surprise, so interviewing filmmakers Desiree Connell and Scott B. Hansen was a pleasure. The talk is featured in video and podcast form below!
It was a brief four minute interview with filmmaker Sean King O’Grady, but considering We Need To Do Something is a film I dug, I was grateful for the time. The video interview is below, and I will explain why this film will garner different reactions from viewers.

Singer-songwriter Masumi’s had a unique and whirlwind experience shooting Yakuza Princess. She married co-star Kenny Leu two days before production. Thus work assumedly took the place of a honeymoon, as they traveled to São Paulo, Brazil to shoot the feature!
It’s been a week or so since I’ve seen the spoken word/musical hybrid Summertime, and it’s a film that is still on my mind. Filmmaker Carlos López Estrada, with the aid of 25 artists, has crafted a diverse look at Los Angeles in all of its humanity and diversity. Estrada and Summertime co-star Raul Herrera talked to Deepest Dream about this unique cinematic experience.
Sarah Wayne Callies’ scripted podcast program Aftershock was initially set for recording days in Los Angeles and New York. The pandemic altered those plans, but Callies remained undaunted. Aftershock is currently available on whichever podcatcher you use, and she talked to CinemAddicts about opening up her creative horizons.
