Happy Mother’s Day to everyone, and since I’ve been blessed with a strict and extremely loving mother, I wanted to share some insight from Julie Chrisley, the matriarch behind the USA’s Chrisley Knows Best.

Shep Rose And Cameran Eubanks Praise ‘Southern Charm’ of Charleston

NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Upfront - 2015

Southern Charm, now in its third season, airs Monday evenings on Bravo (9/8c). To be honest, I’ve yet to check out the show as I’m way too busy attempting to watch 1,000 movies by the end of 2016. That being said, interviewing Cameran Eubanks and Shep Rose was a delight, as the close friends came off as likable and forthright while promoting Southern Charm last month at the Four Seasons Hotel (Westlake Village, Ca.).

Along with serving as the host of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Nick Cannon has carved out a successful acting, directing, producing and music career to boot. Since we’ve come to expect the unexpected with Cannon, the announcement that he was named Chief Creative Officer of Radio Shack was more of a pleasant surprise than a total shocker.

It may be Star Wars day, but a new shark is in town and he’s (or is it a she?) is threatening Serena van der Woodsen!! Gossip Girl references aside, the new trailer for The Shallows is pretty terrific.

The Voice Top 10: Got the Blues, Can’t Lose

0

While the winner of this season’s The Voice has yet to be crowned (no matter what Adam Levine may say, the odds are looking more and more like the winner will have a blues background. Once considered a bit of a novelty in the competition, Team Blake‘s Adam Wakefield and Team Adam’s Laith Al-Saadi have improved their standings in recent weeks, while some of Alisan Porter‘s best work on Team Christina have been tinged with a bluesy delivery that allows her to belt with more power and attitude. That being said, this week it all converged for blues-loving fans as the night’s top four all thrived with a bit of that attitude thrown in. So let’s take a look at the night’s Top 5 Voice competitors:

Amanda Schull Loves “Philosophical Adventure” Behind ’12 Monkeys’

The futuristic, time travel series 12 Monkeys may have garnered a fan based that originally came from La Jetée enthusiasts and devotees to Terry Gilliam’s 1995 feature, but thankfully the program has carved out an entirely different identity from its predecessors.

The Voice Top 11: Laith It On the Line

The Voice scaled down one last week as Team Pharrell‘s Emily Keener was ousted after surprisingly finding herself in the bottom two. It turned out to be an unexpected bottom pair as Emily found herself squaring off against Team Adam‘s Owen Danoff, even though  Team Blake‘s Paxton Ingram was by far the lowest selling performer on iTunes. Will the surprises keep coming? Let’s get into tonight’s performances and find out.

Torrey DeVitto’s Movie Picks: ‘Malena’ and ‘Irreversible’

Torrey DeVitto plays Dr. Natalie Manning on Chicago Med, another successful Dick Wolf produced show that should have staying power. During the NBC/Universal Summer Press Day, I asked DeVitto to briefly pick a film that continues to inspire her as an actress and a moviegoer. She upped the ante and picked two films that I also love.

The Voice Top 12: Alisan Porter, Hannah Huston + Adam Wakefield Continue to Thrive

0

As we hit the Top 12 on The Voice, odds are most viewers have clued in to some definite frontrunners. From her Blind Audition performance, Team Christina‘s Alisan Porter got some declarations similar to what Jordan Smith received last season, and like Smith, she’s not done anything to really have anyone swayed from those positive comments. Likewise, Team Blake‘s Adam Wakefield has emerged as a soulful country-tinged artist who feels like he’s toiled at radio for years. And young teacher Hannah Huston has been Team Pharrell‘s top performer from the moment she stepped onstage. So it should come as no surprise that all three once against commanded the stage for standout performances during the Top 12 show.
