Pauline Kael’s first book was I Lost It At The Movies, and though I relate to that sentiment I also have learned a tone in the process. Case in point is Bad Reputation, an illuminating look at the life of Joan Jett that’s now out on DVD.
Jamie Chung is the face of Chinese Laundry’s 42Gold, a new line of “fashion forward” footwear that debuted on Friday. Chung, whose credits include the criminally underrated flick Sucker Punch and The Hangover Part II, is a cast member on Fox’s The Gifted.

Shot in Iceland over 19 days, Arctic is a film that’s definitely worth catching if you dig survivalist dramas. In this post .I included audio of Mads Mikkelsen’s reflection on shooting the end scene (which is a total knockout) and why he immediately said “yes” to the project.

Director Nicolas Pesce’s (The Eyes of My Mother) mines the immersive worlds of Brian De Palma and Alfred Hitchcock (throw in a dash of giallo cinema as well) with Piercing. The narrative, based on a Ryû Murakami novel centers on a guy (Christopher Abbott) who decides to commit the perfect murder.Mia Wasikowska is the escort who may become his intended victim, but fate has a funny way of turning the tables. During our chat Pesce talked about the joys of creating a visually seductive world within an indie budget.
