The overall feeling from the interview room was the mutual support that Ashlee Simpson-Ross and Evan Ross have for each other. Ashlee was candid about her own growth as a singer, and Evan had nothing but praise for Ashlee. Unfortunately, Ashlee’s own thoughts about what she loves about Evan as a singer never happened, as a fellow interview jumped in to ask his question. Anyway, here are two videos from the interview!!
I feel like I’m still finding out who I am as a vocalist and on our album right now I’ve been tapping into – I’ve grown up loving soul music – so I’m definitely tapping into a little bit of that now which feels super fun and cool. But I always love a little bit of rock and roll and I think there’s something in my husky voice that always kind of drives that (into) something I love. For me, I just like music that just moves me like rock and roll soul music, so . . .
This is one of the first times I’ve seen Ashlee in her musical artistry element like this, although she’s always an artist. It’s inspiring. I’ve always heard from all her friends how incredible she is when she turns on and becomes this incredible performer and singer that she is. It’s amazing. It’s so powerful. That’s why I’m so excited that people are going to be able to see what she does because it’s inspiring. I get why all these young girls and young men and whatever are like ‘We want to see Ashlee again because she’s so incredible.’
