Now playing exclusively in theaters, Cobweb is tour de force filmmaking from director Samuel Bodin. The narrative centers on Peter (Woody Norman), an eight-year-old who believes there is a mysterious figure living inside his family home. Bodin talked about his cinematic approach to Cobweb and why Norman was perfect for the lead.

Is Peter’s (Woody Norman) active imagination the cause behind the tapping behind the wall, or is there an actual person or creature living in the home?

In Cobweb, the initial “monsters” are Peter’s abusive parents Mark and Carol (Antony Starr, Lizzy Caplan). Along with their terrible treatment of Peter, the couple are also hiding their share of secrets. Cleopatra Coleman is the teacher who is rightfully concerned for the child’s safety.

“I think (imagination) is a strength,” said Bodin, who adds that his movie has ‘fairy tale’ elements. “Especially in Cobweb, imagination is the key. Peter has to follow that. It’s like an onion. You remove a part of it and you discover something else. What you trust is not what you think. It’s an illusion. It’s that dancing together (between reality and imagination) that I love in Cobweb. And I wanted to go about it in a hypnotic way.”

I absolutely love the movie and recommend Cobweb (I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️). CinemAddicts co-hosts Bruce Purkey and Eric Holmes did not recommend the movie. Unfortunately, they are wrong in this instance!! All kidding aside, would love to hear your thoughts on Cobweb. Listen to our CinemAddicts review below:

Full interview with Samuel Bodin is available on our Deepest Dream YouTube channel. Bodin was kind enough to talk about the ending of Cobweb, and that discussion will be available this weekend for our CinemAddicts Patreon members.
