Kasia Smutniak is back as the scheming and strong-willed Livia Drusilla in season 2 of Domina. Her battle of wits with Gaius Julius Caesar (Matthew McNulty) is my favorite aspect of the MGM+ series. Smutniak and McNulty talked to Deepest Dream about the show and why their chemistry simply works.
Kasia Smutniak describes acting in season 2 of Domina as “exhausting but exciting.” “When you shoot a TV show, there is so much pressure,” said Smutniak. “You shoot so many different and difficult scenes during one day. Different locations and then you have all these costume changes. There are so many things going on, but once you’re in the process – you’re in the process.”
For Matthew McNulty, working with Smutniak is pretty straightforward. “It’s proper easy working with Kasia because she’s on it,” said McNulty. “She’s got layers and it’s easy for to lose myself in the scene and I enjoy working with Kasia for that reason. The writing’s there, anyway. The dialogue’s quick and sharp and easy to work with. It’s easy and I enjoy it.
