Actor Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley) takes on his most challenging role to date with Patriots Day, the latest collaboration of director Peter Berg and actor Mark Wahlberg. During the press conference, Yang talked about playing Dun Meng, the carjacking victim who escaped from Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Whether it’s their ability to find humor in darker subject matter or the ability to stay in the moment, comedians often make a smooth transition to dramatic acting. For Jimmy O. Yang, working with Patriots Day filmmaker Peter Berg was a fruitful experience.

“Just going to rehearsals with Pete (Berg) and talking to Pete just gave me a lot of confidence,” said Yang. “Coming from a comedy background, I was very comfortable with improving, especially  on Silicon Valley, working with Pete (deals with) a lot of improvisation. I just jumped in and it was great. All that training paid off.”
