Actress Italia Ricci has read her share of horror scripts, but the unique storytelling behind The Confession along with an immediate kinship with director Will Canon sealed the deal. The movie centers on a musician’s (Ricci) discovery that her childhood home might be haunted and influencing her son’s (Zachary Golinger) behavior. Ricci and Will Canon talked to Deepest Dream about The Confession which is now out on Digital and On Demand.

“I just wanted to find a balance between asking those sorts of questions but still being grounded at the same time, which is a very fine line to, to walk,” said Italia Ricci. “Will did a great job with the script and I responded to it immediately. Once I met him, it kind of just solidified (signing onto the project). I knew it would be a good collaboration and we stuck pretty much exactly to the script. Not much changed while filming and I think that we were able to accomplish what we set out to do. I’m really proud of it.”

An integral part of The Confession’s creative success was the close knit collaboration between Ricci and Canon. “I was right in my instinct to trust Will and our editor (Kyle Walczak) and everybody really involved because it felt like a labor of love,” said Ricci. “Everybody really did want the best for it. Even in moments where we weren’t sure how it was going to work in the movie. When he was like, ‘Okay, I’m gonna need all of these different versions.'”
Ricci joked: “I was more than willing to do that. So I would say my performance is more his fault!”
