‘Huluween Dragstravaganza’ Interviews With Ginger Minj and Manila Luzon

Huluween Dragstravaganza put a smile on my face with its quick witted sketch comedy and catch musical numbers. Rupaul’s Drag Race vets Ginger Minj and Manila Luzon were on hand to promote the October 1 Hulu event. My YouTube interview with them is below!

Part of my family is from the Philippines, and I asked Manila Luzon about receiving support from the Filipino community. Ginger Linj and Manila Luzon also discussed their backgrounds as drag queens and having the courage and conviction to express themselves.

“At its core, it is a musical, which is something I have always loved” said Linj. “It’s also such a great variety show. It’s kinda like the old Carol Burnett Show with a lot more blood and guts and gore. We get to take all these fun things and cover them in glitter and turn them on their head.”

In my 30 plus years of interviewing artists and celebrities, this is the first time Quezon City has come up in conversation. So on a selfish note, this was a welcome exchange with Manila Luzon:

Truth to tell, Huluween Dragstravaganza is my introduction to Luzon and Minj, and I am excited to check out more of their work.
