Operation Taco Gary’s is an outright ridiculous comedy filled with machine gun dialogue and outlandish situations. That said, there is a beating heart to director/writer Mikey K’s feature. Doug Jones, who plays an alien in the movie, talked to Deepest Dream about what makes Operation Taco Gary’s a unique story.

Luke (Dustin Milligan) thinks he is off on a new chapter in his life with an impending job. Things get haywire when his conspiracy theory loving brother Danny (Simon Rex) reenters his life. The movie also stars Jason Biggs (playing an evil version of himself!), Tony Cavalero, Brenda Song, and Arturo Castro.

Operation Taco Gary’s is filled with such zaniness and chaos that a second viewing may be in order. There is even an apocalyptic flavor to the proceedings, which Doug Jones addressed.

“Even with their disagreements, the (brothers) have each other,” said Jones. “It does make one think, if the we were facing the apocalypse, what would be important to us at that time. I think that’s what this movie brought up for me as I read it. What’s important to me is family and frends who are like family, and leaving behind a legacy of love.”

During the end of the chat, Jones also talked about why The Shape of Water, which won the Best Picture Oscar, might be an under appreciated film. Check out our full interview with Doug Jones:
