Carolina Rodriguez, who performed a resonant rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Cardigan,” advanced past The Voice Blind Auditions with Niall Horan as her coach. Along with pursuing a music career, Rodriguez also discusses why speech therapy is also one of her passions. She faces fellow Team Niall member Kirbi on The Battles. Catch her performance with Kirbi tonight on The Voice (8/7c), and check out our full interview below!

During The Blinds, Carolina Rodriguez pulled out a poster of Niall Horan and brought her sister on stage (she and her sister are One Direction fans). All coaches went up on stage to hold the poster for Horan to sign, and Snoop Dogg also advised everyone to make sure the poster didn’t get torn. It was one of this season’s more humorous moments, and Rodriguez’s sense of humor was also evident in our interview.

Along with being a talented music artist, Rodriguez also wants to diversify her career in an entirely different practice. “The speech therapy field I love, honestly,” said Rodriguez, citing music’s impact on Alzheimer’s and autism. “I love everything that has to do with the voice. When I started music in college, it was kind of insane how much your voice has to do with everything. I just I think I wanna know more about it. And so I’m doing that.”
