This week’s CinemAddicts covers movies that debut April 18, 2025. Films reviewed include “It Feeds,” “The Shrouds,” “Dead Mail,” and “The Ugly Stepsister.” My recommendation this week is the MUBI release “Grand Tour,”and Eric Holmes’ movie picks is “Arcades & Love Songs: The Ballad of Walter Day.” Listen to our latest episode below, and hopefully one of these movies will be on your watch list!
CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey had nothing but praise for the new Shudder release “Dead Mail.” Directed by Joe DeBoer and Kyle McConaghy, this tale reportedly has a retro-indie feel, and Purkey simply loves this movie. Check out his review below!

One of this year’s most memorable “The Voice” moments came when Angie Rey sang “Penthouse” with coach Kelsea Ballerini on the Blinds. Rey went on through the Battles and Knockouts under Team Kelsea, and then she got saved by Michael Bublé for the Playoffs. Rey talked to Deepest Dream about why “persistence” is an important quality to have in the music industry. She also elaborates on the deep connection between her Hispanic heritage and country music. Check out the full interview below!
Filmmaker Lexi Alexander, whose feature directing credits include “Green Street Hooligans” and “Punisher: War Zone,” is back behind the camera with “Absolute Dominion.” Will this movie have the same energy as the aforementioned features? Check out the trailer and let us know your thoughts!
Iris Herrera did not get a chair turn for her first rate rendition of “Gypsy” back on “The Voice” season 26. She came back this year with “You Are My Sunshine” and made it through The Blinds. Herrera survived The Battles, as coach Kelsea Ballerini picked her over Simone Marijic, and now she is trying to past The Knockouts. Herrera reflects on her “The Voice” journey and why having the support of “strong women” is a huge reason she is a confident artist.
“The Ritual,” simply put, is an exorcism movie headlined by Al Pacino and Dan Stevens. That is enough for me to watch this movie, which is directed and co-written by Dan Midell (“The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain”). Movie hits theaters nationwide on June 6 and, most importantly, is the pairing of Pacino/Stevens enough for you to watch?

Want to see John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush go head to head in a thriller? “The Rule of Jenny Pen,” starring the talented luminatires, hits Shudder on Friday, March 28. For more details on the movie as well as our CinemAddicts podcast review, check out our post!
Kat Graham toplines the crime thriller/relationship drama “Tyler Perry’s Duplicity.” If you want a twisty narrative with an eye opening final act, this film may do the trick. It is now streaming on Prime Video, and Graham talked to Deepest Dream about what one can expect from Perry’s latest!
“Endless Calls For Fame: The Story of The New Rising Sons” centers on the meteoric rise and fall of the band The New Rising Sons. Directed by Olivia Serafini-Sauli, the documentary features archives from the filmmakers own personal collection as well as integral footage from audio engineer Carl Glanville. Serafini-Sauli talked to Deepest Dream about her five years in the making documentary which hits Digital and Cable VOD on March 14, 2025.
Actress Ella Thomas stars and produces “Know Mercy,” an ambitious sci-fi drama that is basically the indie picture that could. Armed with a limited budget, Thomas, director Perdell Richardson, and cast/crew crafted a resonant tale about facing one’s mortality. Thomas talked to Deepest Dream about the Pasadena, Ca. shot feature, which is now available on Digitaland On Demand.
