Hello From ‘The Voice’ Battle Rounds, Night 1

0

The Blind Auditions are over, The Voice teams are full, but it’s already time to start cutting down and we start with the first night of the Battle Rounds. During Monday’s performances, there were two Battles from Teams Alicia and Adam, while Teams Miley and Blake only had one competing duo apiece. Let’s see how it went.

‘The Voice’ Before The Battles: A Handicapper’s Guide

Congrats! You got chosen for The Voice, but just making the show is only half the battle and the number of competitors will nearly be cut in half by the time the Battle Rounds are done. So after the Blind Auditions, let’s take a look at each team and which singers should shape the competition as the year continues.

Short Films: ‘Boot’ Is A Police Story That Hits The Mark

A colleague from the press junket scene recommended I check out Boot, a 22-minute short about a police Sergeant whose rookie partner is killed in the line of duty. The Sergeant visits his partner’s father in the hospital, and initially the elderly man mistakes the officer for his own son.

‘The Voice’ Blinds: Courtney Harrell, Blaine Long Lead Coaches Final Picks

This is where things get interesting. It’s the final night of the Blind Auditions on The Voice, which means the remaining competitors are subjected to a little more discerning ear from each of the coaches. Who will get the nods? Who will be criminally overlooked? Which coach will be left unable to turn when arguably the perfect singer for their team performs? Let’s recap one of The Voice’s most entertaining nights:

Matt Lanter Delves Into “Human Element” of ‘Timeless’

Co-showrunners Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield and criminally underrated Last Resort) spearhead the ambitious series Timeless. Matt Lanter is Wyatt, a soldier who teams with a history professor (Abigail Spencer) and scientist (Malcolm Barrett) to travel back in time and save America from a potential doomsday. Though Lanter loves that the series has an “adventurous spirit,” he also talks about some of the program’s deeper themes. To hear Lanter, go to the jump.

When we last left off on Big Brother, Paul had just won the Head of Household, and with only three players left, he essentially held all the power in the house deciding how things would play out moving forward. He could either side with the remaining showmance — Corey and Nicole — and evict James or pick off one of the couple. In the end, Corey ended up packing his bags and walking out the door.

The Voice Blind Auditions, Night 1: Riley Elmore, Ali Caldwell + Gabe Broussard Turn Heads + Chairs

It’s a new season of The Voice with a pair of brand new coaches eager to make their mark and a wealth of fresh talent ready to put their vocal talents to the test. The season technically began almost a month ago with a post Olympics preview and two artists being snatched up. From that moment, we could tell that Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys were serious threats to the long-running reign of Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, as each of the newbies were well versed in salesmanship and aggressively competing to snap up Darby Walker and We McDonald. But the longtime vets have a proven track record of success on the show and grooming talent that is not to be overlooked. So with that, let’s get a look at which new voices ended up with which coaches:

Trailer: Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal Go Dark With ‘Nocturnal Animals’

Considering it won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2016 Venice International Film Festival, Nocturnal Animals should probably on your Oscar watch radar. Headlined by Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams as a divorced couple who gradually uncover dark truths about one another, the film hits select theaters November 18th and goes nationwide December 9th.

When we last left the Big Brother house, Natalie was getting picked off and her summer-long showmance with James looked to be in a rather unstable state. A distraught James was left in the house with the knowledge that Natalie may have been perceived as throwing him under the bus. And it seemed like a final four pact between Corey, Nicole, Victor and Paul was intact. But as we know, appearances aren’t what they seem.
