KiKi Layne And Charlize Theron Deliver First Rate Work In ‘The Old Guard’
Although its moniker feels ancient, The Old Guard brings a ton of fresh perspectives into the action thriller genre. Gina Prince-Blythewood, a director who has received acclaim for Love & Basketball and Beyond the Lights, was an inspired choice to helm the feature, and I never envisioned If Beale Street Could Talk’s KiKi Layne anchoring this movie. We are conditioned to see such films directed by a male filmmaker with a bankable male action veteran with maybe a younger, charismatic male actor as the vet’s sidekick; so it’s refreshing to see whenever a film goes an entirely different direction. Basically, there are very few things that are “old” about this movie.

If I had ample time on my art, pixel art adventure titles would be one of my go to adventures of choice. I am definitely intrigued by the puzzle platformer REZ PLZ which hits Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam on July 15.

So Groupers is now on Amazon Prime Video which means anyone with a prime membership can watch it which also means it’s kind of come to it’s final resting place. That’s not to say that it’s dead by any means. Not much more I can do with it at the moment and now it’s time to look forward with everything I’ve got.Â
