Directed by Dead Pigs filmmaker Cathy Yan, Birds of Prey and the Fabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn spotlights the further adventures of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). Reeling over her breakup with the Joker, Quinn commits a criminal act which angers narcisstic crime boss Roman Sionis (Ewan McGregor) to no end. Roman also tasks his right hand man Zsasz (Chris Messina) with hunting down a young girl named Cass (Ella Jay Basco). Ultimately Cass and Quinn’s paths cross, and Quinn also finds new friends in Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and cop Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez).

The picture took in over $199 million worldwide, and even with that figure it’s one of this year’s most overlooked films. Bank on it to receive a ton of attention with its digital release.
