Inspired by a true story, “My Penguin Friend” centers on a penguin named DinDim who bonds with João (Jean Reno), a melancholy fisherman needs purpose in his life. Alexia Moyano stars as Adriana, a kindhearted researcher who realizes DinDim is a very special animal. Moyano talked to Deepest Dream about how the movie brought her back to her own youth. Check out our interview below!
Alexia Moyano grew up in a small town in Argentina before moving to Buenos Aires at 16. Nature was a big part of her youth, and that aspect connected her to Adriana, a woman whose penguin research is her life’s priority. DinDim is completely different from the other penguins she is researching in Patagonia, and ultimately she must come to a decision that will impact DinDim’s life.
Now out on Digital, “My Penguin Friend” has a Rotten Tomatoes popcornmeter score of 97%. If you are looking for a heartwarming family tale, this feature is worth a watch.
During the interview, Moyano added that her connection to the film is “very deep” as it gave her a chance to reflect on her nature centric childhood. “We need to just renew our hope (at times),” said the actress about ‘My Penguin Friend.’ “And the movie helps you with that.”
