Chazz Palminteri plays 18 characters in his autobiographical play. Initially offered an estimated $1 million to turn “A Bronx Tale” into a movie, Palminteri wanted to play mob boss Sonny and pen the screenplay. Considering he had just $200 in the bank, Palminteri gambled on himself and won.

“A Bronx Tale,” directed by Robert De Niro, was released in 1993 to critical acclaim. De Niro played the young boy’s father and Palminteri showed off his acting chops as Sonny. Over the past thirty years Palminteri has starred in his share of features (“The Usual Suspects,” “Bullets Over Broadway,” “Hurlyburly”) and also directed the 2004 feature “Noel.”
