Russell Crowe plays Father Gabriele Amorth, the Chief Exorcist of the Vatican. “He performed thousands of exorcisms,” said Crowe in the featurette. “And had not only done it for 36 years but had documented the things that he experienced.”

The Pope’s Exorcist is baed on Amorth’s books An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories. The picture co-stars Daniel Zovatto (Station Eleven), Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes), and Franco Nero (Django).

Official Plot Synopsis: Inspired by the actual files of Father Gabriele Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican (Academy Award®-winner Russell Crowe), The Pope’s Exorcist follows Amorth as he investigates a young boy’s terrifying possession and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy the Vatican has desperately tried to keep hidden.
