This Find Your Film episode is a testament to the hard work of hosts Bruce Purkey and Eric Holmes. The only movie I watched was You Are Not My Mother, and my betters carried the rest of the program sans a hitch. A couple of excellent movies are discussed on this episode, take a listen/watch below (Video and audio podcast are in the post).

Odessa Young stars in Mothering Sunday as Jane Fairchild, a house maid who is attempting to hid her secret lover from her employers (Colin Firth, Olivia Colman). Although Paul (Josh O’Connor) is Jane’s love, their future is not a sunny one (he is engaged to be married to another woman). Set in 1924, the feature centers on the origins of Jane’s lifelong passion for writing. Co-host Bruce Purkey praised the heck out of the movie (giving it five stars) and Eric Holmes rated it four stars. The feature is out in theaters this weekend in New York and Los Angeles.

We may not be making a zillion bucks as podcasters, but one of its perks is the chance to catch various movies for free. Kino Cult is releasing a brand new 4K restoration of Stunt Rock (directed by Deathcheaters’ Brian Trenchard-Smith) this weekend. The cult classic is described as “part documentary, part rock film, and all kinds of crazy.” Bruce Purkey recommends the movie with 3.5 stars, and Eric Holmes praised the living you know what out of Stunt Rock, topping it off with 5 stars.

Bruce and I were disappointed by You Are Not My Mother. The feature centers on Char (Hazel Doupe), an introverted teenager whose mother (Angela Bracken) goes missing from their North Dublin residence. When mom returns, Char and her grandma (Ingrid Craigie) realize something is amiss. Directed and penned by Kate Dolan, You Are Not My Mother is aided by strong performances but ultimately the story did not hit the target for the two of us. The good news is that Eric Holmes loved the feature’s third act, and he gives it 3 stars (Bruce and I rated it 2.5 stars). You Are Not My Mother is out everywhere and in theaters on March 25.

Eric Holmes also reviews The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, and he joins Bruce Purkey in a review of the Ti West feature X. We close out the show with a review of the underrated feature Hangover Square (which is one of Stephen Sondheim’s favorite movies).
