After watching the trailer, I did not connect science fiction with What Lies Below. Vertical Entertainment, however, has labeled their new film as “thriller/sci-fi,” so I’m assuming Mr. Right is literally “out of this world” (excuse the pun). The feature stars Mena Suvari, Ema Horvath, and Trey Tucker, and the trailer offers a few interesting visuals.

What Lies Below centers on Liberty (Ema Horvath), a shy 16-year-old who returns to her mother’s (Mena Suvari) lake house and is surprised to see she has a fiancé (Trey Tucker).
Mr. Right’s name is John Smith, which sounds harmless and commonplace, but John is not your average guy. He has been studying various species that live around the environment, and Liberty notices that he is a “weird” dude. He comes with a solid “weird is cool” rebuttal, but his eccentricities may lead to danger.
Having Suvari (American Beauty, Loser) as one of your leads is a plus, and hopefully whatever “lies below” is a darn good movie.
