We’re down to the Top 10 vocalists on The Voice after the exit of Evan McKeel last week. Will Korin Bukowski be able to stay out of the bottom two after narrowly escaping the last two weeks? Is there anyone making a move to challenge frontrunner Jordan Smith? Let’s look at some of the night’s top performers and also zoom in on who might be singing for their spot come Tuesday night.

Amy Vachal (Team Adam) – Adam and Amy have found great success in recent weeks turning well known songs on their head with unique arrangements that have really connected. They do it again by taking one of Amy’s favorite songs from her youth — N’ Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye” — accentuating some of the darker moments of the lyrics and turning it into something with more swing. Adam commends her artistry and Gwen says she’s fantasizing about Amy’s post-Voice tour with her ability to flip familiar songs.

Emily Ann Roberts (Team Blake) – Emily Ann has steadily been improving week by week and she’s found her niche perhaps more than any other artist in the competition. Her rendition of Patsy Cline’s “She’s Got You” has the perfect amount of sorrow and the simple arrangement stands out. Blake offers, “I’ve never had a better collaborator in nine years of working on this show. She is so smart and knows who she is as an artist.” It really is one of Emily Ann’s best performances, who is becoming a threat to win it all.

Madi Davis (Team Pharrell) – Pharrell is down to one performer left in the Top 10, but he has a star in the making in Madi Davis. Tonight’s rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” is a perfect example as to why. The 16-year-old Davis revealed that it was one of the first covers she ever recorded and then showed off her alternate arrangement that came with a smooth opening sax and faint piano as she got in touch with emotions not fully unearthed in the original. “That was a really weird, cool, awesome version of that song,” said Adam, while Blake was ready to hop online and buy that version now.

Barrett Baber (Team Blake) – After last week’s Tanya Tucker misstep, Barrett needed a rebound and pulled out one of the strongest songs in his repertoire, the Conway Twitty classic, “I’d Just Love to Lay You Down.” It showcases Baber at his best and unlike a lot of weeks, he doesn’t seem in “attack mode,” finding nuance in his delivery. This could be Baber’s best performance and re-positions him as Blake’s best chance at victory. Blake and Adam agree it’s his finest moment on the show so far.

Jordan Smith (Team Adam) – Jordan took on the oft-performed Leonard Cohen classic “Hallelujah” and while we’ve become accustomed to the singer delivering such standout performances that they almost become overlooked, there was no risk of that happening here, especially when the vocalist hit an unreal falsetto note midway in. Pharrell called his performance “effortless” and “incredibly touching” while his coach Adam stated that he continually gets chills watching Jordan perform.

Who’s in trouble? Team Gwen did not have a good night. Braiden Sunshine’s version of Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” felt a little thing and the arrangement did him no favors despite his game stage presence and production. Korin Bukowski improved upon her recent performances with a more confident and sassy rendition of Selena Gomez’s “Same Old Love,” but even with taking it to another level, she could still be fighting to stay another week. And while we don’t think Jeffery Austin’s rendition of Labrinth’s “Jealous” was really a misstep, his night opening slot and a performance that didn’t really raise the bar could have him sweating it out a bit. The only other competitor that could be in trouble is Team Blake’s Zach Seabaugh. While there’s no denying his stage charisma and magnetism as a performer, his rendition of Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” appeared to have a few breath control issues and the occasional moments where he was actually drowned out a bit by his backing vocalists. But gauging by the amount of female screams from the crowd, we don’t think he’s in danger.
So who is going home on Tuesday? You’ll have to tune in at 8PM ET/PT on NBC for The Voice live eliminations to find out.
