Any movie that stars Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) has my attention, so The Shadow of Violence is a ruthless looking feature that I’m putting on my radar. Check out the post for the trailer, images, and poster!
The feature centers on Douglas “Arm” Armstrong (Hunter Killer actor Cosmo Jarvis), an ex-boxer who becomes an enforcer for a drug-dealing family in rural Ireland. Being the crew’s resident tough guy inevitably leads to the task of killing someone, and Douglas is understandably hesitant about the task. Barry Keoghan co-stars in the feature, and from the looks of the trailer he’s Douglas’ trusted buddy.
The movie, which marks the feature directing debut of Nick Rowland, is executive produced by actor Michael Fassbender. Joe Murtagh, one of the credited writers of 2018’s American Animals, penned the script.
I’ll definitely catch The Shadow of Violence down the road and cover it on one of the podcasts. That said, the press release states that The Shadow of Violence is “only” hitting theaters on July 31. I’m crossing fingers this film makes that goal (if not, there is always VOD and Digital – such is the current state of the world!).
Check out the trailer and tell me if you think this one’s worth your time and effort.
