Written, produced and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel, “The Friend” features Iris (Naomi Watts), a New Yorker whose life take a huge turn after her mentor Walter (Bill Murray) bequeaths her his Great Dane Apollo. The feature, based on Sigrid Nunez’s 2019 novel, currently has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Scott McGehee and David Siegel’s previous directing effort was 2021’s well received “Montana Story” which starred Haley Lu Richardson and Owen Teague. “The Friend’s” ensemble includes Constance Wu, Carla Gugino, Sarah Pidgeon, Ann Dowd and the aforementioned Teague. Last but not least, Bing plays the active Great Dane Apollo!
“The Friend,” running at 120 minutes, opens in New York March 28 and hits theaters nationwide April 4. Let us know your thoughts on the trailer!
