Suzi Quatro’s artistic legacy is in full display with the compelling and uncompromising documentary Suzi Q. Folks who pre-order the film to see its premiere on July 1st will be treated to an Exclusive Bonus Q&A with Quatro, Cherie Currie (The Runaways) and Kathy Valentine (The Go-Go’s). More details on the event as well as a brief snippet of my chat with Quatro is featured in the post (fyi – I absolutely love this doc).
Ten percent of rental proceeds and 100% of all “Give” donations will benefit MusiCares. To pre-order Suzi Q, go to Altavod.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Alice Cooper, Deborah Harry (Blondie), Joan Jett, Cherie Currie, Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Donita Sparks (L7), Henry Winkler (Happy Days), Kathy Valentine (The Go-Go’s), KT Tunstall and members of Quatro’s family are among the interviewees featured in the documentary.
One of the many strong aspects of Suzi Q lies in its honest look at Suzi Quatro’s life, and Quatro is not one to sugar coat the bumps she had along the journey. Australian filmmaker Liam Firmager did not direct a documentary that was simply aimed at Quatro’s diehard fans. Rather, Suzi Q is an engrossing look at an artist who refused to be boxed in by popular trends or opinions. It’s an inspiring and universal story that thankfully doesn’t lose its edge (of course, a huge credit goes to the subject’s trademark energy and candor).
During our interview Suzi Quatro talked about the overwhelmingly positive reaction she has received from the documentary:
I’ll be posting more from the interview this week, and if you see the documentary or have thoughts on Quatro, please drop a comment and share your thoughts!
If you miss the July 1st premiere, there is life after this 24-hour window! Suzi Q hits VOD and DVD on July 3.
