Review: Why ‘Alien: Romulus’ Is A Forgettable, Derivative Movie

CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey talks about why he was disappointed with “Alien: Romulus” to its very core. I mildly enjoyed the movie as a surface level action feature, but I do agree with a lot of Bruce’s spoiler filled review. The good news regarding “Alien: Romulus” is that the actors do a great job in their respective roles. Cailee Spaeny is terrific as the main protagonist Rain and David Jonsson is more than up to the task as her synthetic brother Andy.

Production design, editing, and the action scenes all are top notch. That said, I gave the feature just 3/5 stars due to its frequent callbacks to previous “Alien” features. As the saying goes, “I heard you twice the first time!” Too many member berries kept me from fully enjoying the movie, and this is my least favorite of the franchise.
