The cast and filmmakers celebrated the world premiere of Freakier Friday Tuesday night at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theater. Repreising her Freaky Friday role over twenty years later was not a difficult task for Lindsay Lohan, and she explained why it was an easy transition during a recent interview.

“Slipping back into the role of Anna felt very comfortable for me bcause I’ve also aged with Anna as the character,” said Lohan. “So it was easy for me to relate to who she is today, especially with being a mom. It came more naturally than I expected.”

As for the enduring popularity of Freaky Friday, it was no surprise that fans wanted a sequel. Twenty two plus years later and it’s now a reality.

“The message of ‘walk a mile in my shoes’ is a very important one,” added Lohan. It’s a learning lesson in life that we all eventually come to find out and see the value of it. I think the heart factor of it is the mother-daughter relationships. And the paternal and maternal figures that you have in live are very important. And we try to show that in this movie.”

Freakier Friday, co-starring Jamie Lee Curtis, hits theaters August 8.
