Hitting theaters October 27, the animated feature Inspector Sun centers on a police detective (Ronny Chieng) who is fired after a mission goes sideways. When Dr. Spindlethorp (Scott Geer) receives a threat on his life, Sun gets back into action to tangle with his nemesis the Red Locust (Rich Orlow). Director Julio Soto Gúrpide and producer Adriana Malfatti Chen talked to Deepest Dream about the Spanish production.
The movie is set in 1934 Shanghai, and this feature will, along with being a family film, may appeal to Agatha Christie and Dashiel Hammett mystery lovers. Though Inspector Sun may not be as somber as Ten Little Indians or as cerebral as The Maltese Falcon, an insect and art deco infused animated flick is welcome in my book.
