Science fiction plays an important part in George Clooney’s body of work (Solaris, Gravity), but this time out he’s also behind the camera in The Midnight Sky. The feature, lensed by Clooney collaborator Martin Ruhe (The American, Catch-22), is based on Lily Brooks-Dalton’s acclaimed novel Good Morning, Midnight. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!
The Midnight Sky centers on Augustine (George Clooney), a scientist in the Arctic who attempts to prevent Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning to a devastated Earth. The ensemble includes David Oyelowo, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir, Tiffany Boone, and Caoilinn Springall.
Alexandre Desplat, the composer behind Clooney’s 2017 feature Suburbicon, is the music man behind The Midnight Sky. Clooney once again teams up with his longtime production partner Grant Heslov to produce the picture.
Screenwriter Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Overlord) adapted Lily Brooks-Dalton’s novel Good Morning, Midnight. Members from our CinemAddicts Facebook Group have also recommended I check out Martyrs (penned by Smith), so that film and Overlord are on my to-watch list.
The Midnight Sky hits theaters in December with a Netflix debut on December 23. Would love to hear your thoughts on if this movie is also on your must see list during the holiday season!
