Exhibiting Forgiveness – Roadside Attractions / Lionsgate

Inspired by filmmaker Titus Kaphar’s estranged relationship with his father, Exhibiting Forgiveness centers on Tarrell (André Holland), a celebrated painter who has a full life thanks to his loving wife/singer Aisha (Andra Day), their young son Jermaine and his religious mother Joyce (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor).

Things get understandably complicated when his estranged father La’Ron (John Earl Jelks) attempts to mend fences and reestablish himself in Tarrell’s life.

“Exhibiting Forgiveness” is writer/director Titus Kaphar’s feature directing debut, and it is filled with memorable performances all across the board. Kaphar’s paintings are a huge part of the movie, giving the narrative an organic and immersive visual touch. Running at 117 minutes and Rated R, “Exhibiting Forgiveness” is a top shelf family drama that hopefully will gain a wider audience now that it is available on home entertainment.
