Director Evgeny Afineevsky spent over three years in making Francesco, and the documentary has unprecedented access to His Holiness Pope Francis. Border walls, climate change refugees, LGBTQ issues, and the pandemic are all addressed in this project, and Pope Francis’ desire to be among the people is one of the biggest takeaways from this documentary.
