Sound of Freedom filmmaker Alejandro Monteverde has another first rate movie in the book as Cabrini opens nationwide Friday via Angel Studios. The movie is based on the story of Frances Cabrini (Cristiana Dell’Anna), an Italian immigrant whose unwavering and entrepreneurial spirit lead to healthcare and housing for hundreds of orphaned children. Dell’Anna and David Morse (“Archbishop Corrigan) talked to Deepest Dream about working together on this (in Morse’s own words) “fantastic” story.

Cabrini’s ensemble includes John Lithgow as Mayor Gould and Giancarlo Giannini as Pope Leo XIII. Director/co-writer Alejandro Monteverde brings an immersive visual look into the narrative as we follow Cabrini (Cristiana Dell’Anna) and her fellow sisters attempt to build a shelter for kids in the Five Points area in lower Manhattan. Although it is not a cradle to grave biopic, Cabrini succeeds in bringing an enlightening look at this revered Catholic saint.
