When we last left the Big Brother house, Natalie was getting picked off and her summer-long showmance with James looked to be in a rather unstable state. A distraught James was left in the house with the knowledge that Natalie may have been perceived as throwing him under the bus. And it seemed like a final four pact between Corey, Nicole, Victor and Paul was intact. But as we know, appearances aren’t what they seem.
Actor Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner, Teen Wolf) may be on the cusp of his second cinematic franchise with American Assassin, a film where he plays a CIA black ops recruit named Mitch Rapp. The project is based on Vince Flynn’s bestselling novel, and currently Flynn has penned 15 books centering on  Rapp’s adventures.
The acclaimed HBO crime series The Night Of is headed to Blu-ray and DVD on October 18. The eight episode project, created by Oscar winning writer Steven Zaillian and Oscar nominated scribe and novelist Richard Price (The Color of Money, Clockers), is headlined by Riz Ahmed and John Turturro (he worked with Price on Clockers).
It’s a time for celebration for SEGA and Relic Entertainment with today’s 10-year anniversary of the release of Company of Heroes. The popular and acclaimed WWII strategy game, which made its debut on PC, is the highest rated RTS (real time strategy title) on Metacritic and GameRankings.com, and to see how COH is celebrating its success, check out the details after the jump.
David Oyelowo (Selma) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) star in A United Kingdom, the true story of the relationship between London office worker Ruth Williams (Pike) and Seretse Khama, the King of Botswana. Amma Asante, who helmed the acclaimed 2013 feature Belle, directs the Guy Hibbert (Eye in the Sky) penned script.
This week on Big Brother saw a bit of sadness from Natalie and James, while the remaining houseguests were sitting pretty. When we last left the Big Brother houseguests, Michelle was busy trying to blow up Nicole, Paul and Victor‘s games on the way out the door and a new Head of Household challenge requiring the moving of eggs through chicken wire had begun. As had become commonplace when he’s been in the game, Victor has continued his run of the house every other week.
Now available on Blu-ray and DVD via RLJ Entertainment, The Phenom is a baseball movie that refreshingly breaks convention by not focusing on the sport itself. Instead , this subtly and evocatively rendered drama is a character study of the highest order, focusing on the little details that pushes talented and unassuming pitcher Hopper (Johnny Simmons) in a ton of different directions.
With the Fall TV season just around the corner, it’ll be great to see Kiefer Sutherland back on the scene attempting to save the U.S. once again with Designated Survivor. Although he won’t be kicking butt as former CTU agent Jack Bauer this time around, Sutherland finds himself in the more prestigious position as President of the United States! With Sutherland’s star power and an intriguing premise, I’m betting the show will be renewed for a second season.
What a week it’s been in the Big Brother household! When we last left the houseguests, Victor had been voted out, but joined all of the jury members with the opportunity to fight for the chance to re-enter the game. The competition was an endurance one, with the last remaining jury member assured of returning to the game and the remaining houseguests also competing for the chance at being Head of Household.
One of this year’s biggest sleepers, the horror-thriller Lights Out hits Blu-ray October 25 and Digital HD on October 11. Directed by nascent filmmaker David H. Sandberg and produced by James Wan (The Conjuring), Lights Out is based on Sandberg’s short film.
