It’s been forever and a day since I’ve done a Blu-ray giveaway, so this time out I’m offering up my Blu-ray copies of Shaft and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Details below (digital code not included).
Benjamin Walker as Farmer Smithson and Shannon Tarbet as Bess Krafft in the drama/comedy “LOVE IS BLIND,” an Uncork’d Entertainment release. Photo courtesy of Uncork’d Entertainment.
Perception, fantasy, as well as a healthy dose of tragedy populates the world of Love Is Blind, a romantic drama with a rather intriguing premise. Bess (Shannon Tarbet) is a 24-year-old living her dad (Matthew Broderick) in New York’s Hudson Valley. Suffering from “selective perception,” she is unable to see her mother (Chloe Sevigny), whom she believes passed away years ago. Director Monty Whitebloom talked to us about his intricately woven feature whose strengths lie in the performances of Tarbet and co-stars Benjamin Walker and Aidan Turner.
EWAN McGREGOR as Dan Torrance in the Warner Bros. Pictures’ supernatural thriller “STEPHEN KING’S DOCTOR SLEEP,” a Warner Bros. Pictures release. CR: Jessica Miglio
Many people, including myself, consider Stanley Kubrick’s version of The Shining to be a classic horror movie. Therefore, a sequel seemed ill-advised and unnecessary, at best, and a disaster-in-the-making, at worst. But, I decided to give this movie a chance and tried to view it with an open mind. After all, Mike Flanagan, the director of Doctor Sleep, has slowly built up a solid resume of horror projects. Oculus, Hush, and Gerald’s Game were all lean, effective movies. More importantly, Flanagan’s sprawling miniseries remake of The Haunting of Hill House illustrated his ability to tackle and reimagine a beloved film classic.

Luke Bracey (The November Man, Hacksaw Ridge) stars in Danger Close as Sergeant Bob Buick, an Australian soldier in The Vietnam War who takes part in The Battle of Long Tan. During our interview, Bracey talked about how signing onto Danger Close was a “no-brainer” and why Saving Private Ryan is one of his all time favorite films.

For years, I had no idea why, after absolutely loving Different Seasons, another Stephen King book reading experience would never (at least to this day) happen. That answer was found from a Ewan McGregor sound bite from the Doctor Sleep premiere, and it’s featured in the following post.
Christian Bale, Matt Damon - premiere of "Ford v Ferrari." CR: Eric Charbonneau
Ford v Ferrari centers on British driver/mechanic Kevin Miles (Christian Bale) and American car designer Carroll Shelby’s (Matt Damon) attempt to build a race car for Ford Motor Company and compete at France’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. During the Ford v Ferrari premiere, Bale discussed why he loves playing real characters and what makes the feature a “really moving” tale.
Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson in "The Banker." (CR: Apple)
“The Man” can be racism, inequality, or whatever holds us back in general, and The Banker sheds a light on the audacious exploits of businessmen Bernard Garrett (Anthony Mackie) and Joe Morris (Samuel L. Jackson) in the 1960s. The true story, which reunities Mackie with The Adjustment Bureau filmmaker George Nolfi, is headed to theaters next month.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 29: (L-R) Director and Producer Paul Feig, Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding attend the Universal Pictures Premiere of Last Christmas at AMC Lincoln Square on October 29, 2019 in New York City. (Photo by Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Universal Pictures)
I’m not one to plunk down money to see romantic comedies, but Last Christmas is definitely on my radar. For one, it’s directed by Paul Feig, the filmmaker behind such excellent features as A Simple Favor and Bridesmaids (I still haven’t checked out Ghostbusters). Feig collaborates with Emilia Clarke and his A Simple Favor actor Henry Golding in Last Christmas, and in the audio below Clarke elaborates on why the film should make viewers “feel warm and good inside.”

First off, my sincerest apologies for making this episode just 30 minutes, as I had to pick up my niece within the hour. That said, Anderson and I have a couple of movie recommendations this weekend (Adopt A Highway, The Current War: Director’s Cut, Terminator: Dark Fate). Take a listen to our episode below!!
Nick Jonas, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson Awkwafina and Kevin Hart star in Jumanji: The Next Level. Photo Credit: Frank Mas
I’m just waiting for the Dwayne Johnson “We’re Not Gonna Make It” gifs, but if you want a taste of what it looks like check out the very end of the latest Jumanji: The Next Level trailer. Johnson is driving away from a multitude of ostriches which leads the Jumanji crew off a cliff and the rest is history!
