I’m fat from being home all the time and I’ve had to move some priorities around yet again. Finally remember to bring up a book that I’ve meant to mention the last few weeks, a book that has had the greatest impact on me as far as just doing the work. Links to a new youtube video of the boy and I as well as all the other links are below. Thanks for listening!

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will stream two months early on Disney+ in honor of Star Wars Day (aka May the 4th). Now Star Wars fans will be able to stream all nine films of The Skywalker Saga in one platform.
Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill, The Shack) stars in Dreamkatcher, a horror-thriller that centers on Gail (Mitchell), a woman who tries to bond with her stepson Josh (Finlay Wotjak-Hissong) at a remote country home. Still traumatized over his mother’s passing, Josh has visions of his late mother ordering him to murder Gail. During the interview, Mitchell talked about what made Dreamkatcher a unique story, shooting in Bovine, and why she continues to grow in confidence as an actress.
Here’s my interview with Radha Mitchell (Pitch Black, Silent Hill). Mitchell talks about her latest film Dreamkatcher which hits DVD, Digital, and On Demand April 28. Patreon members will also get Radha Mitchell audio discussing the end of the movie. Email us some of your favorite Radha Mitchell movies and please rate and review our podcast. Thank you!
With self-quarantine in effect for the forseeable future, streaming life has become commonplace on a worldwide level. With so much content to devour, checking out past hits is my version of comfort food. I’ve never seen the iconic shows My Favorite Martian or The Rifleman, but thankfully FilmRise is making those programs free to stream.
If you have children, one of the biggest challenges is how to keep them challenged (through home schooling) and engaged. Millions of movie fans have already seen Frozen 2 (now streaming on Disney+), and today the Walt Disney RecordsYoutube Channel released the “All Is Found” sing-a-long sequence.
David Spade and Lauren Lapkus in THE WRONG MISSY (Netflix)
For most of my life I’ve avoided most of David Spade’s body of work, but I’ve put my film snobbery to bed and I’m open to new movie experiences. Spade is a master at dry wit humor, and with the upcoming feature The Wrong Missy he seems to have the perfect comic foil in Lauren Lapkus.
David Spade and Molly Sims in THE WRONG MISSY (Netflix)
Directed by Tyler Spindel, the filmmaker behind David Spade’s 2018 effort Father of the Year, The Wrong Missy centers on executive Tim Morris’ (Spade) adventures during a corporate retreat. Believing he texted Missy (Molly Sims), an attractive woman who may be the perfect match, he insteads reaches out to another Missy (Lauren Lapkus).
The “wrong” Missy was a previous blind date of Tim’s, and her unpredictable and overly extroverted personality is not to his liking. Frequent Spade collaborators Rob Schneider and Nick Swardson are also part of the ensemble.
Laura Lapkus and Rob Schneider in THE WRONG MISSY (Netflix)
Lapkus and Swardson are absolutely hilariously in the trailer, and although the comedy literally falls off the cliff towards the end, I audibly laughed while watching the clip. Credit also goes to writers Chris Pappas and Kevin Barnett coming up with an ingenious concept. Texting the wrong person is commonplace, but throw it into a romcom stew (and giving Lapkus an assumedly ton of material to work with) and you may end up with a winning formula.
Check out the trailer and tell me what you think! If you have David Spade films that you’d recommend, please share in the comments!
It worked! Yelling at myself last week got me to sit down and write and damn it feels great to be working on something not called Groupers! What I forgot to mention on this week’s feed is a book called The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. A number of you suggested it since last week and it occurred to me that I may not have brought it up before, but will do so next week for sure. Thanks for the support and for listening, stay safe and sane!

Directed by Martha Stephens (Land Ho!), To The Stars is the unabashedly evocative coming of age story of Iris Dearborne (Kara Hayward), a teenager who struggles to find her way in 1960s Oklahoma. During our interview Stephens talked about shooting in Oklahoma and the challenges of crafting an ambitious film on an indie budget.
